Through The Looking-glass and what Alice found there by Lewis Carroll, People's edition, published in 1896 by Macmillan and Co. Ltd., New York. 'Forty-third Thousand' stated on title page. First published in 1887. With 50 illustrations by John Tenniel. Hard cover with pale green cloth that has red and black illustrations and title. Cover is in poor condition with fading, staining and some wear, though intact. Front free end-paper is missing and binding shows weakness here (less so at the back). Contents in fair condition with many marks and some foxing. Advertisements at the back following Carroll's'Easter Greeting - To every child who loves Alice', dated 1876 and a 'Christmas Greetings' poem, dated 1867. Seller Inventory # 572
