Print on Demand. This book, a collection of memoirs from the early 20th century, gives readers a rare glimpse into American small-town life of the era. The author paints a charming portrait of the people, places, and daily goings-on that made up his world. The town's river, central to the narratives, provides adventure and serves as a constant backdrop to life's joys and sorrows. The book takes on an elegiac tone as the author contrasts the innocence of his youth with the complexities of adulthood. At once joyful and wistful, this book will appeal to anyone who has ever looked back on their own childhood with a mix of happiness and regret. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.

After the warm spring showers these earth walks always held tiny mud-puddles where the rain-bleached 'worms congregated until the robins came that way.
