Beginning the book with a proposal for proving existence and ending with a pragmatic application of his theory, this book thoroughly examines theories of objectivity and ontology. Through the lens of semantic theory, Quine addresses philosophical and logical problems alike, aiming at a theory of universals. He draws on a variety of topics - mathematics, existential philosophy, linguistics - to examine the abstract realm of objectivity, science, and universality. An important book not just in Quine's canon, but in 20th century logic. Publisher's original tan dustjacket with black lettering front, spine and back with a single vertical red line on the front cover. The dustjacket is a bit chipped at both spine tips.
