Interior pages clean and unmarked. Exhibition catalog and artist monograph documenting the logging themed oil paintings of Donald E. Olson (born 1921), a Washington State artist and former logger whose work focuses on historically accurate depictions of Pacific Northwest logging practices. Published in conjunction with the Camp Six Logging Museum at Point Defiance Park, Tacoma, this volume reproduces twenty nine paintings created between 1983 and 1993, illustrating both early and mid twentieth century logging methods, including steam donkeys, skid roads, high lead logging, and later mechanized practices. Captions and paintings by Olson are accompanied by an introductory biographical essay detailing his career in logging, military service, engineering work, and later development as an artist. The book serves both as a visual record of disappearing logging traditions and as documentation of Olson's long standing association with the Camp Six Logging Museum. Contents include: Logging Artist - Don Olson; Crossed Purposes (1986); Portable Logging Road (1992); Punching in a Logging Road (1993); Hey! What's All That Noise? (1985); Is Someone Looking Over My Shoulder? (1986); Setting a Choker (1986); Choker Setters in the Rain (1983); Topping the Spar Tree (1992); Fastening the Safety Strap (1993); Speed Climbers (1983); Highlead Logging (1986); The Hooker and the Tail Block (1983); Rigging Up: Second Wrap (1984); Run In for Your Job, Run Out for Your Life (1986); Picnic Every Day (1983); Building a Donkey Sled (1992); Moving the Donkey (1992); Logging with an Arch (1992); Bobtailing (1985); Firefighting, CCC Style (1985); Hayrack Boom (1986); Heelboom Loading (1986); Loading Out by Truck (1986); Lidgerwood Skidder (1989); Logging with Lidgerwood and Shay (1990); Climax Loky (1982); Timber Trestle: CC&C Railroad (1992); Sonny, I'm the Guy Who Put 'Er Here (1983); Time to Hang Up the Corks - I'm Done (1992).…
