Item description from seller

Original 1867 edition (not a reprint from India) published by Henry Carey Baird, Industrial Publisher (Philadelphia). Somewhat worn brown buckram cloth on this hardback smallish (8 x 4.5") book. Stamped with presumably the former owner's name "H. W. Guy, From Muscotah, Kansas". Muscotah's history changed dramatically in exactly 1867. That year, the Union Pacific/Central Branch railroad acquired land for the new townsite, which was surveyed in the fall of 1867. The community essentially shifted from “Old Muscotah” to the new location along the railroad. Then, just two years later, in 1869, the historical record specifically says that “Watson & Guy” established a hardware store in Muscotah. Could easily have been this H. W. Guy as stamp has a very old ornate font. Book is sewn which has kept it in such great condition. Interior of the book is clean all the way. (BR) Shelf 301.
