a popular account of the Lockerbie disaster, the trial of Abdelbasset Al Megrahi, and the deception that was involved in blaming Libya for the terrorist atrocity. "It's a racy exposition of the flaws in the Megrahi conviction and may well reach an audience that other books haven't managed to tap." Professor Robert Black QC."Very glad to see this book" Prof. Noam Chomsky. The book is passionate. About justice for Megrahi, about Scotland's judicial system which failed at every level in this case. The police, the Crown Prosecution, the Scottish Government all share the blame for the biggest miscarriage of justice in our history. The world was aghast when Megrahi was found guilty on such flimsy evidence. Since then the SCCRC Scottish Criminal Cases Review Commission has found that there were 6 grounds of appeal whereby he may have suffered a miscarriage of justice- repeatedly they stated that he did not receive a fair trial. They have demonstrated that the main witness was paid over $2Million dollars, evidence was deliberately withheld from the defence, police officers lied, other witnesses were not disclosed. In other words: a disgrace.Simons' book on the Lockerbie Disaster gives a fine analysis of all the issues involved. Identifies the problems and offers the solution. Those responsible for the justice system in Scotland have used every possible means to prevent an appeal against this conviction. It is up to the people of Scotland & concerned people everywhere to apply pressure on the Scottish Government to overturn this unjust conviction & repair the damage done to our justice system.Buy this book.
