--Alejandro Zambra
ENGLISH DESCRIPTION
Gabriela Weiner's most personal essays. Chronicler of herself, she returns with a new edition to celebrate her tenth anniversary.
"The truth is I have never been able to write--nor speak my mind--from a discreet stance. I have never been able to make myself invisible, and to be honest, I haven't tried either. I love the reality we unmask in every one of our actions. I love the will to be amazed.
I think the most honest literary thing I can do is tell things as I see them, no artifice, no disguise, no filter, no lies, with my prejudices, obsessions, and complexes, with truths in lower case and generally suspicious. Doing it any other way would be disrespectful on my part. I would be deceiving me and deceiving you."
In Missed Call, Gabriela Wiener compiles a selection of her most outstanding autobiographical texts: essays, short stories, vignettes, observations, and reflections that emerge from everyday experiences as singular as maternity, migration, the fear of death, feeling lonely in hotel rooms, or ménages à trois.
This revised and extended edition, published on the tenth anniversary of its original launch, reaffirms the impact and relevance of one of the most original and transgressive voices in literature today.
