Add to basketDerek J. de Solla Price?s influential study of the history, sociology, and quantitative development of modern science. This expanded 1986 edition incorporates the complete text of the original Little Science, Big Science, first published in 1963, together with nine later papers extending Price?s investigations into scientific growth, citation patterns, research networks, ?invisible colleges,? differences between hard and soft sciences, and the development of high technology.
Price was a pioneer of what became known as scientometrics?the quantitative study of science itself?and this remains one of the central works associated with the emergence of that field. Of particular interest to collectors and scholars of the history and philosophy of science, sociology of science, bibliometrics, information science, and scientific communication.
