Add to basketCopyright date 1938 on the title page. I'm listing this book because I could find no other copy for sale on the Internet, no other copy of this edition from 1938. The textblock, which consists of 20 pages including the illustrated end papers is fully detached from the covers. However the textblock itself is solidly bound, all 20 pages. There is a very small tear just off the bottom edge of the juncture between the blank verso of the front end paper and the title page. And there is another very small tear in the same place between the blank verso of the rear end paper and the last page of the book. I didn't see any tears anywhere else in the text. There are 15 large illustrations, six are in color. There is also a smaller black-and-white illustration on the title page. The pages are in nice condition. They're very clean. I'm not seeing any soiling. There is some tanning or toning at the margins. The colors look very good. I'm not seeing any conspicuous creasing on the text pages, no turned-down corners or placeholder creases. There is a crease off the bottom corner of the rear end paper. There are no markings. No attachments. There is a small signed inscription off the top edge of the blank side of the front end paper. It reads: Dear 'Mamie' from Mrs. Smith with lots of love. There is no other writing to be found anywhere in the book. I have provided a photograph of the inside covers and you can see that there is a split where they meet. There is also a smooth scuff in one of the small squares on the rear inside cover and if you look closely you can make out what appears to be erased penciling down a little ways beneath the top edge of the front inside cover. Despite the detachment and the split at the juncture between the end papers, the covers are solidly bound, the underlining of the spine is not torn. As you can see the covers are in very nice condition. There is a small tear just off the top and bottom edges of the spine, as well as a little wear (2nd photo). There are also several very tiny, thin closed tears on the spine and one just adjacent to the spine. To reiterate, they are all closed. There are also a few small instances of light penciling on the covers. If you look closely you can see them, they are not very conspicuous.
