This poignant and beautifully written memoir explores ordinary life through extraordinary eyes. The themes of love and loss, marriage and motherhood, poverty and courage - all raised in her first autobiographical volume, "Into Each Life" - are developed in this sequel with sensitivity and strength. The two volumes together are a compelling saga of Jewish life in Brooklyn from the 1920s to the 1960s. Of "Into Each Life," Joy Holland, Division Chief, Brooklyn Collection, Brooklyn Public Library, wrote: "... well-written, charming and informative ... I'd say Beulah Brown could stand up against Betty Smith [author of "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn"] any day.

Beulah Brown, born of immigrant parents in Brooklyn, lives in Sammamish, Washington with her husband, Leon. Married 67 years, they were childhood sweethearts, schoolteachers in New York City, modest members of a remarkable generation of New York Jewish intelligentsia that lived through the Depression and World War II - a generation of unassuming people who strived and succeeded, who loved literature and music, who raised their children with ancient values and modern ambitions. Mrs. Brown, a fine singer still, studied English, is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and has been an avid meditator for over forty years. Leon and Beulah's two sons, two daughters-in-law, eight grandchildren and one great grandson live nearby and ply them with love and a good deal of brown rice, salmon and green tea.
