About this Item
Book club edition. Light staining on hinges, modest edgewear, a very good copy in a very good dustwrapper with dime-sized hole in mid-spine, corners chipped. A very scarce play that was made into a wickedly funny film, the first directed by actor Alan Arkin and featuring an ensemble cast that included Arkin, Elliott Gould, Marcia Rodd, Vincent Gardinia, Doris Roberts, Donald Sutherland, and Lou Jacobi. The play (with Gould, Barbara Cook and David Steinberg) flopped financially in its original run, but was the first American play chosen by the Royal Shakespeare Company, and Arkin successfully revived it two years later. The black humor was a little before its time, but the film is considered something of a period classic now. Seller Inventory # 397747
