Fine in printed, glossy, pictorial paper covered boards. An octavo measuring 8 1/2 by 6 inches with a prior owner's book plate on the front paste down behind the jacket flap. In a near fine dust jacket matching the paper covered boards. The front flap shows a price of $1.95 at the upper corner of the front flap and the lower corner of the front flap has been clipped. The lower left corner of the jacket flap has a code of "40-80". The verso side of the jacket is printed with other Harper "I Can Read" titles. The upper fore corner of the rear panel at the fold to the rear flap shows a minor 1/8" chip. An "I Can Read Book". 64 pages with illustrations by Maurice Sendak with five other titles by the author listed on the verso side of the half title page. A Caldecott runner-up.
