With his compound bow and the legendary Sanguine Blade, William sets out hunted by a powerful enemy and a destiny that will not set him free. It is his fate to right a world gone to hell, and he’s starting with Colorado.
The world is in chaos after a devastating meteorite storm pummels the Earth for seven days. The United States government has relinquished its control to the still functioning corporations that have enslaved the people. William Alexander survives at the lowest level of their caste system with his father and his mysterious stepmother.
She was found wandering the woods, abused and frightened, and though she is highly educated, she claims to have lost her memory. Will benefits from the prohibited lessons she shares, but he soon discovers she isn’t just broadening his horizons; she’s grooming him.
His meager existence comes to a terrifying end when his family must run from the Corporate soldiers who are hunting his stepmom. Trapped and bound to die, she gives Will the Sanguine Blade, an artifact critical to the rebellion. She tells him he must keep it safe, promising him that someday he’ll understand.
After witnessing the unthinkable, Will wakes up in another territory, learning a stranger has adopted him. As he grows into his teenage years, he is steeped in anger and bound to a destiny he doesn’t understand. He feels adrift, unsure who to trust with the questions he cannot ask and the answers he can't find. When he is forced to align himself with his oppressors, he is set on a path where fate tangles him deeper and ever closer to his fate.
