“She was very young and very pretty and very dead…and as naked as a fully clothed person could be.” Barney Black is a tough cop in a tough town, but when he goes looking for the dead woman’s killer, he isn’t ready for Grace Trudo. Grace is married to Willie, a small time gambler, who had taken in the dead blonde when she first came to town. Willie could be the killer, but it’s Grace who gets Barney’s attention. Grace is pure, raw sex, and Barney wants her the moment he sees her. Is Grace worth the risk, or could she be trying to hide a kill-crazy husband? Barney is going have to bend more than the rules before he can solve this one.
DARK THE SUMMER DIES
Tony Bianchi has a great summer job teaching kids to dive at the local pool. He’s got a sweet girlfriend, Betty, and on weekends they go out together; and sometimes they kiss. Life is good for teenage Tony—but he’s restless for something more. So when he meets an older woman named Vickie and she invites him out to dinner while her husband is away, he takes her up on the offer. Vickie is ten years older, a sophisticated blonde, and just as restless as Tony. But Vickie’s got a different kind of restless. What she doesn’t realize is that what to her is just a quick fling might mean a whole lot more to young Tony. And so quickly his dulcet summer turns into a living hell…
THE DEVIL’S DAUGHTER
Michel Perry is the owner of a chic nightclub, but he is also a man with a secret. He used to belong to a bootlegging gang. The six men who were his partners have all died, some violently, some mysteriously. Now, as he lies in his upstairs apartment with an alluring woman named Laura, he begins to understand that he might soon be joining them. Because Laura is not whom she seems. She is really Maria Buonarotti, out to avenge her husband’s death. She assures Michel that he is safe, that she is in love with him, and merely wants to share her stories, to unburden her soul. Night after night, as the two of them lie in each other’s arms, Maria tells her stories of revenge. But what will happen to Michel when Maria has no more stories to tell?
