Vanaf de oevers van de Schelde ziet de overkant van de rivier eruit als een verzameling hoge gebouwen, zwevend boven een groene strook. Hoewel herinneringen aan zomeravonden op het Sint-Annastrand deel uitmaken van het collectieve geheugen van de stad, wordt Linkeroever vaak over het hoofd gezien en vergeten. Het is 'aan de andere kant van de rivier' - een deel van de stad, maar toch ver weg. In 2016 lanceerde de Antwerpse stadsbouwmeester Christian Rapp een internationale ideeenwedstrijd met de expliciete ambitie om Linkeroever tot het voorwerp van ontwerpend onderzoek te maken en om het debat over het belang van dit deel van de stad voor heel Antwerpen aan te zwengelen. De wedstrijd was een zoektocht naar Leitbilder ? visies die een beeld geven van wat de toekomst van de stad zou kunnen zijn. Linkeroever. Sprong over de Schelde is bedoeld als meer dan louter het verzamelen van de inzendingen. In het boek vormt dit initiatief het uitgangspunt voor het opnieuw aan de orde stellen van de bredere vragen over de huidige stand van zaken in stedenbouw en ontwerp. Als Linkeroever een stad is die op het punt staat plaats te vinden, dan markeren dit boek en deze wedstrijd het begin van die ontwikkeling. For many of the city's inhabitants, the Antwerp Linkeroever is unknown territory. From the banks of the Scheldt, the opposite side of the river appears as a series of high-rise buildings hovering over a green strip. Although recollections of summer evenings on the beach of Sint-Anna are part of the collective memory of the city, the Linkeroever is often overlooked and forgotten. It is 'across the river' - a part of the city, yet also something separate. In 2016, Antwerp City Architect Christian Rapp launched an international ideas competition, with an explicit ambition to address the Linkeroever as an object of design research and to start the debate on the importance of this part of the city for the whole of Antwerp. The competition looked for Leitbilder - images that offer a vision on what the future of the city might be. Linkeroever. Across the River intends to extend beyond merely collecting the results of the competition. Instead, it takes this initiative as the starting point for readdressing larger questions about the state of urban development and design today. Books are offered if unsold. The order of incoming orders will be respected strictly. You can also order the book directly on www.erik-tonen-books.com and you get the best price - !!
Orders can be placed via e-mail (info@erik-tonen-books.be), or in writing, preferably not by telephone.
The books that are offered online are not available at our bookshop at 48 Kloosterstraat.
You will receive an e-mail confirming the availability of the book(s) and providing details with regard to shipment costs (we use Belgian and Dutch postal companies for the most cost-effective shipments.
The indicated shipment costs have been calculated according to the rates for shipments of up to 2 kilo. We will choose the most cost-effective shipment option, depending on the weight: either letter post or parcel post.
Abe-books charge your Payment, we send only the book to your adress.

Right of withdrawal
If you are a consumer you can withdraw from the contract in accordance with the following. Consumer means any natural person who is acting for purposes which are outside his trade, business, craft or profession.
Information regarding the right of withdrawal
Statutory right to withdraw
You have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving any reason.
The withdrawal period will expire after 14 days from the day on which you acquire, or a third party other than the carrier and indicated by you acquires, physical possession of the last good or the last lot or piece.
To exercise the right of withdrawal, electronically fill in and submit a clear statement on our website, under "My Purchases" in "My Account". We will communicate to you an acknowledgement of receipt of such a withdrawal on a durable medium (e.g. by e-mail) without delay.
To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired.
Effects of withdrawal
If you withdraw from this contract, we will reimburse to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery (except for the supplementary costs arising if you chose a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us).
We may make a deduction from the reimbursement for loss in value of any goods supplied, if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling by you.
We will make the reimbursement without undue delay, and not later than 14 days after the day on which we are informed about your decision to withdraw from this contract.
We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.
We may withhold reimbursement until we have received the goods back, or you have supplied evidence of having sent back the goods, whichever is the earliest.
You shall send back the goods or hand them over to BOOKSELLER - ERIK TONEN BOOKS, Antwerpen, Belgium, without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which you communicate your withdrawal from this contract to us. The deadline is met if you send back the goods before the period of 14 days has expired. You will have to bear the direct cost of returning the goods. You are only liable for any diminished value of the goods resulting from the handling other than what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods.
Exceptions to the right of withdrawal
The right of withdrawal does not apply to:
- The delivery of newspapers, journals or magazines with the exception of subscription contracts; and
- The supply of digital content which is not supplied on a tangible medium (e.g. on a CD or DVD) if you accepted when you placed your order that we could start to deliver it, and that you could not withdraw once delivery had started.
Shipping terms
Orders usually ship within 3 business days. Shipping costs are based on books weighing 4.2 LB, or 2 KG. If your book order is heavy or oversized, we may contact you to let you know extra shipping is required. ;
