- Biography and Autobiography
Abraham lincoln, who saved the Union and the American experiment in democracy, has become, in the near-century since his death, a kind of symbol of all the good toward which humanity is striving, a living proof that man can attain that good. Revered almost to the point of worship the world around, his name seems to spell out the meanings of those characteristics for which we know him best: honesty, humor, compassion, wisdom.
