THE LILY OF THE ARNO OR FLORENCE PAST AND PRESENT BY VIRGINIA W. JOHNSON 1891 EX-LIBRARY. Here is another version of this lovely book, also quite nicely presented but an ex-library version. Find: The Lily of the Arno or Florence, Past and Present by Virginia W. Johnson. This book is a lot like the other version of it that I just listed both by Dana Estes and Company of Boston with the same copyright date 1891. This small hard cover book is bound in blue boards with elaborate gilt decorations and a prominent Fleur di Lys on the cover. Like the other version I just listed the top edge is gilt and the page edges are deckled. I believe there are two additional plates (20 in all), all photos of sights around Florence with captioned tissue-guards. Condition: This book is in very good condition although as I mentioned it is an ex-library copy with the usual markings (duly stamped as withdrawn !). The hard covers are still quite bright and attractive and only slightly bumped. The interior pages are clean and bright and without toning or foxing. Both hinges are starting but the binding still feels tight and sound.…
