From the Author
The Fairfield friends help kids develop Christian character.
Stuck in a thunder storm, a tree house disaster, and a runaway dog are some of the adventures the Fairfield Friends have in The Lightning Escape. Who are the Fairfield Friends? The Fairfield Friends are a group of six ethinically diverse kids who live in the same neighborhood and face a variety of contemporary problems and situations together. Each of the ten, short stories in the book uses one or more of the friends to solve the problems according to biblical principles, developing Christian character traits along the way. Topics in The Lightning Escape include faith, kindness, self-control, thankfulness, priorities, gifts to God, cheating and others. Each story is followed by a question section to reinforce the lessons learned and provide take-off points for related issues and supplementary Scripture texts to look up. Another section includes activities for individuals and groups to do such as games, puzzels, role playing, craft ideas and more to provide a practical application of the concept in the story. The Fairfield Friends are perfect for family devotions or for your grade-schoolers to read on their own. They've also been used in Sunday school, vacation Bible school, Christian schools, and youth organizations. I think you'll agree that the Fairfield Friends are different from other devotion books on the market which use only a one page vignette in which it's impossible to idntify with or get to know the characters. But Ceely, Hutch, Roberto, Cameron, Min and Valerie will become your friends. If you read one book, you and your children will return for the others in the series. Enjoy!
