Item description from seller

Trade catalogue. Quarto. 282mm. Pp. 1- 112. Illustrated. Stapled contents. A clean copy. Limp printed card wrappers, chipped at the head of the spine. The catalogue comprises of seven sections - General; Railways; Tip Wagons; Industrial and EstateCars; Wheels , Axelboxes, Buffers and Spare Parts; Operation of Light Railways; Locomotives; and an Appendix. A very good plus copy. Robert Hudson Ltd; was possibly the largest and major international supplier of materials and equipment for light railways in the world. The firm was founded at Gidersome, Leeds, in 1865 by Robert Hudson. The Gildersome works was huge occupying a 38-acre site, it was completely self contained, having it's own furnaces, iron and steel foundry etc. The Company went on to open offices, and a few factories, in many parts of the world, in 1922 it was estimated that there about 1000 employees at Gildersome. The downturn in it's sales for rail equipment forced the company to sell the Gildersome works in 1982, and the company was closed in 1985. This is a very rare trade catalogue, the Library Hub Discover (online 2/2024) locates only one copy - University of Manchester Library.
