Very Good. 8vo. Half-title, title-page; publisher s prospectus for a different title tipped onto title-page with tape, some very minor foxing at the outer margins, otherwise internally clean and bright. Publisher s blue cloth, spine lettered in gilt, in the original pictorial dustjacket; boards fore-edges with some substantial rubbing and fading, stray spots to the top edge of text block, dustjacket lightly toned, with more substantial browning to the verso, extremities with some rubbing, minor creasing, and tiny nicks, three pieces of tape to the verso at head of spine panel, front panel, and front inside flap. First edition, not of the signed and numbered limited edition. This edition, the only collected edition of Niedecker s work to appear in her lifetime, was published shortly before she died in 1970. The book was in part responsible for reigniting interest in her work, and brought her long overdue acclaim. A collected edition of her poetry would not appear again until 2002. Scarce.
