Print on Demand. This book is an autobiography of a fowl, a 'memoir from a hen's point of view', and as such chronicles the experiences of the eponymous central narrator as she grows from a chick and learns about the ways of the world; the farm on which she lives, the animals with whom she interacts, the hierarchy and social structure of the farm, and her place within it. The author is a naturalist with a deep and detailed understanding of the natural world of the farm and the countryside. The book is full of deft observations on the relationships between predators and prey, on the life cycles of insects and the hunting behaviour of owls, and on the curious habits of the animals that share the farm and the wider countryside. The book would be an interesting and enjoyable read for anyone who loves farm and countryside living, and has a particular interest in the animals that inhabit both. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

IN this, the latest addition to the well-known series of Animal Autobiographies,' the Life Story of a Fowl is related from the fowl's own point of view. So ably has the author caught what might be described as the hen's outlook, that it is impossible to forget throughout the book that it is a hen who is telling the story. The hen heroine has lived a full life, and the book abounds in incident, experi ence, andreflection. In her narrative she incidentally reveals much of the wild and domestic life of the farm, and during her adventurous career in town and country she visits many queer places and sees life under various conditions - tragic, pathetic, and humorous.
