Boswell?s famous biography of Dr Samuel Johnson. Boswell?s first edition (1791) was textually the most accurate. It is therefore taken as the basis of this edition. The text has been emended and augmented according to Boswell?s Principal Additions and Corrections, published in the same year as the second edition (1793), and therefore combines the accuracy of the first edition with the fullness of the second.
