Paperback. This raw coming-of-age story follows a boy named Chris, who grows up without parental guidance after his mother goes to prison and his father abandons him. Left to fend for himself, Chris is exposed to harsh realities from a young age: alcoholism, drug abuse, violence and even death. He faces traumatic physical, mental and emotional abuse, as well as life-threatening encounters with knives and guns. Turning to music and friendships, Chris finds respite from the grim unknowns of his daily life. Even as a young boy, he is forced to make tough decisions just to survive. It is a journey that Chris himself does not fully comprehend until he begins writing this biography, unearthing long-buried childhood memories and revelations that stun his family. Told in his own uncompromising words, this is Chris s story: his raw perspective on a childhood of profound struggle. The book chronicles his traumatic past all the way through present day, depicting a dark path that pushes at the boundaries of human experience. But ultimately it is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit.
