nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - Some people disappear. Some were never who you thought they were.On the night of their twelfth anniversary, Julian Vale comes home to a dark house and an empty kitchen. His wife, Clara, is gone. The next morning a parcel arrives. Inside are a letter begging him not to look for her, a brass key, and a photograph of Clara, barely twenty, marrying a man he has never seen. The key opens a house in Rhode Island. What waits inside reaches back twenty-seven years, to the day Julian's little sister vanished, and forces him to ask whether the woman he loved ever told him a single true thing, or whether love and concealment have lived under the same roof all along.Part love story, part slow-burn mystery, THE LIFE WE NEVER LIVED follows a restoration carpenter who knows how to find the hidden fault in an old house and has never thought to look for it in his own marriage. As he follows a trail of letters, recordings and half-kept promises, he learns that the people who loved him most were also protecting him, and that the truth costs something no matter who tells it.For readers of emotionally driven suspense, family secrets, and stories where the question is not only what happened, but what you would forgive to keep the person you chose. How well can you know the person you chose, and what would you forgive to keep her.…
