Two facsiimiles of a fragment of a letter by Michel Angelo and a facsimile of the original manuscript of A Poem by Michel Angelo. The facsimile have caused some "shadowing" of the writing to the facing pages. Four folded large plates in rear of book comprising "The Ceiling of the Sistine Chapel." ."The Last Judgment", "A Group of Battle of Pisa and The Monument of Julius II Pont Max in the Church of S. Pietro in Vincola, Rome". All line drawings in sepia. Marble endpapers. From the library of Jay Gould with his bookplate "Lindhurst Irvington on Hudson" showing his estate, Lyndhurst, on the front pastedown. There is an additional small book label showing its location in the library. Jay Gould was an infamous "robber baron' railroad tycoon. Some rubbing to the outer hinges.
