Add to basketd is a biographical account penned in the late 19th century. The memoir chronicles the life of Charles Lutwidge Dodg son, better known as Lewis Carroll, examining his upbringing, family back ground, education, andcreativeendeavors, focusingparticularlyonthecom plexities of his personality and the influences that shaped his literary legacy. At the start of the memoir, the author introduces the reader to Lewis Car roll's lineage, detailing the lives of his forebears, particularly in the context of their service in the church and education. The opening chapters also capture memories of Carroll's childhood in Daresbury, where he engaged in boyish pastimes amidst a mostly secluded environment. Early accounts of his schooling reveal both his learning tendencies and the initial struggles he faced, setting the stage for an exploration of how these formative experi ences contributed to his later accomplishments as a writer and mathemati cian. As his life unfolds through the narrative, readers are presented with vivid anecdotes and reflections on his literary creations and his profound connections with children, hinting at the enchanting world he would later depict in works like "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland."
C Permit me to offer you my sincere thanks for the very sweet verses you have written about my dream-child (named after a real Alice, but none the less a dream-child) and her Wonderland. That children love the book is a very preciousthoughttome, and, nexttotheirlove,Ivaluethesympathyofthose who come with a child's heart to what I have tried to write about a child's thoughts. Next to what conversing with an angel might be-for it is hard to imagine it-comes, I think, the privilege of having a real child's thoughts uttered to one. I have known some few real children (you have too, I am sure), and their friendship is a blessing and a help in life
