Hardback. Slight wear to edges of cloth. Slight foxing to edge. Slightly sunned spine to cloth. This book emphasises the radical changes which have produced the relevant and lively discipline that is modern Biology. Using a variety of plant and animal life the authors describe the functions of living organisms in relation to their form and structure. Stress is laid on the living organism in the context of balanced inter-acting communities of plants and animals. Life at cell, organism and population level is seen as a system in dynamic equilibrium, internally regulated, programmed and computed. In the final section the position of man in the ecosystem and his influence on the enviornment is examined. The book incorporates a mass of factual information presented visually wherever possible. The diagrams and photographs are accompanied by clear and concise text. Illustrations. 281 pp. (We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. academic and scholarly books and Modern First Editions etc.).…
