He is co-chair of the Council on Families in America, a nonpartisan, interdisciplinary group of scholars and family experts that examines family and child well-being, and is the author of several books, including Disturbing the Nest: Family Change and Decline in Modern Society and The Suburban Environment: Sweden and the United States.
