With half title, 3 pp. of ads, frontispiece and ms. facsimile. A six page glossary concludes the work. " A curious picture of criminal life, the best & seemingly the most faithful of its kind.[of] linguistic value as being mainly written in the Scottish thieves' cant, which contains a good many genuine Romany words" (DNB). Edges a little rubbed and worn but an acceptable copy of a book, rare in any edition, from the first year of publication. A notice of the author's execution (aged 20) is printed at the end. Burke, Literature of Slang, p. 83.
