Paperback. This is an historical novel based on real events which occurred during and after WWII. Close combat in the bloody battle for Germany was a life changing event for the men involved. Elmer Davis was wounded in a desparate attack on the Seigfried line. He was captured by a young German corporal and spent seven months in a German military prison. These experiences changed Elmer from a shy underachiever into a fierce determined criminal defense lawyer with a reputation as a daring risk taker. In a bizarre coincidence when he was in Europe on a mission to recover art stolen by the Nazis, he met the man who captured him and they became friends and business associates And while engaged in his second career as a consultant in recovering stolen art, he rekindled a love affair which began long ago while he was in high school.
