Volume Iii Begins With "Anecdotes Of The Life Of Alexander Schell, An Officer Of The Guard, In The Fortress Of Glatz, Who Delivered Me From Prison On Th E 26Th Of December 1746, And Deserted In My Company" Pp 1-65, Then A New Half Title "The Life Of Baron Frederic Trenck" In The Rest Of The Volume, In Which He Refers To Continuing His Autobiography To The Year 1792, "The Present Year", With More Material On Schell. This Is Apparently The Fourth And Best Edition. Original Quarter Calf Over Marbled Paper Boards, Complete With All Half-Titles And The Introductory Leaf In Volume I Which Explains The Frontispiece. Bindings Worn, Mostly On Spine, With Upper And Lower Edges Worn Away; Paper Covered Boards Once Had Calf Tips Which Are Now Lacking. Boards Worn On Edges But Most Of Paper Is Still Present. No Names Or Marks Or Bookplates. This Edition With The New Material Is Quite Scarce, Worldcat Reporting Only Three Institutional Copies. Friedrich Freiherr Von Der Trenck (1726 –1794) Was A Prussian Officer, Adventurer, And Author. By The Order Of Austria, Von Der Trenck Was Sent As An Observer Of The Events Of The French Revolution To Paris, Where He Was Accused As A Spy And Executed By The Guillotine On 25 July 1794, Two Days Before The Fall Of Robespierre And The End Of The Terror.
