Alisse Ashtal, daughter of a powerful governor and surgeon aspirant, has her world turned upside down when she uncovers the truth her family hid from her and is kidnapped by a young outlander scout. To survive she must use the Arts, the magic bestowed to her at birth by her father, without succumbing to its hefty price.
