nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - Before the United States became an idea, it was a handful of decisive lives. The Library of American Biography (Volume IV) gathers Jared Sparks's historical biographical essays into an american biography anthology shaped for readers who want the people behind early American choices. Lives, not dates, lead us.Part classic nonfiction collection, part disciplined portrait gallery, this volume presents founding era biographies with the clarity of nineteenth century biographies at their best: brisk narrative, firm sourcing, and a sense of character under pressure. In these plutarch style biographies, public action and private principle are held in the same frame, making the book equally inviting as fireside reading and as a us history study resource. Expect early american statesmen lives set alongside colonial and revolutionary figures whose decisions still echo through early united states history. Sparks writes with a measured, public-spirited voice, attentive to civic virtue and the hard compromises of government. Read for the sweep of the Revolution and its aftermath, or consult for dates and decisions when comparing sources across archives and memoirs. It belongs on any history shelf.Sparks helped define how America told its own story, and the library of american biography set remains a touchstone for collectors of foundational historical writing and a dependable reference for researchers tracing names, offices, and moments. Republished by Alpha Editions in a careful modern edition, this volume preserves the spirit of the original while making it effortless to enjoy today - a heritage title prepared for readers and collectors alike.…
