Print on Demand. This book follows the witty and insightful observations of Priscilla Meadows, a woman who has spent her life caring for children and who now watches life from the sidelines. The author immerses readers in the lives of those around Priscilla: Levity Hicks, an exhausted clerk; Horace Rutherglen, a narcissistic actor; and a young medic named Owen Batchelor. The author paints a vivid picture of daily life and human observation in the early 20th century through these characters, but also explores the themes of dreaming, regret, and possibility, as each character grapples with the paths their lives have taken. The author provides a deep and nuanced look at the complexities of everyday life. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.

Sockitt's boaae establishment lies on the north side of Gridley Square; and Gridley Square hangs, as it were, on the outskirts of Bloomsbury. Which is to say that it is not in Bloomsbury proper, although it aspires to be, and artfully hints at the fact in advertisements, and in other places. In the fanlight over every door in Gridley Square you will see a card announcing Apartments and such population as drifts from time to time into Gridley Square is but a floating one - here to-day and gone on some coming to-morrow.
