Print on Demand. Unveiling the nature of political liberty and its essential role in a society, this book presents a profound examination of the concept and its historical evolution in England. The author argues that political liberty, distinct from civil liberty, is the foundation of a free society, and traces its development from the Saxon era to the reign of George III. Through insightful analysis, the author highlights the flaws in the English constitution, which despite its reputation for freedom, has been plagued by a lack of political liberty due to the unchecked power of the Crown. The author advocates for a system of political checks and balances, arguing that a well-structured and balanced government is essential for preserving the rights and liberties of the people. This thought-provoking book offers a valuable contribution to the understanding of political liberty, providing insights into its origins, historical development, and enduring significance. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

The Saxon conflitution, beautiful in its ge. Neral firuéture, though defective in important parts, was {battered by the Danes, and ref'tored by the immortal Alfred. It was deftroyed at the Conquel't; and fluctuating forms of tyranny continued hovering over the land moderated by the introduction of the Commons in Parliament by Edward the Firlt, by the provifions of the great charter, the humiliation of the arif'tocracy by Henry the Seventh, the religious Liberty ex totted by the Puritans; and by the Revolution in 1688.
