This is a charming, antique copy of "The Letters of JANE AUSTEN - Selected from the Compilation of Her Great Nephew Edward, Lord Bradbourne" by Sarah Chauncey Woolsey. 1905; Little, Brown, and Company; Boston. The book features a frontispiece painting of Austen, a full-page photograph of "Chawton Cottage," and gilt top page edges. The book is a collection of personal correspondence, mostly to her sister Cassandra, offering an intimate glimpse into Austen's daily life, sharp wit, and social observations in Regency England. Covering 1796-1817, these letters reveal her thoughts on family, fashion, and romance, along with insights into her literary work. The book measures 7" tall x 4 1/2" wide.
Condition:
Clean front cover; small, light stain on the spine; light scratches on the back cover. The green cloth has partially faded on the spine, and along the perimeter of the covers. Bright gilt lettering and decorations on the front cover and spine. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Both covers are firmly attached. Nice interior - the pages are clean and appear unread with no issues found. Bright gilt top page edges. Some pages are still attached along the outer edge. Overall the book is in Very Good condition.
