Second English edition. 2 vols. 3 folding engraved maps (1 with small tear) and a folding plan of the Great Pyramid. 8vo. Contemporary speckled calf, gilt spines, with some wear. Some occasional foxing and browning, as usual. Bookplate to upper and lower pastedown, both volumes. [2], xi, [1 blank], 467; [iv], 490, [14 index] pp. London, G.G.J. & J. Robinson,  "Savary was the first Frenchman to cite Arabic texts in a work of this nature, and indeed his knowledge of Arabic served him well in his travels at a time when there were many difficulties for the European explorer in Egypt. His letters [on Egypt] are chiefly concerned with antiquities" (Sotheby's/ Navari).   Ibrahim-Hilmy II, p. 214; cf. Blackmer 1492.
