128 p., 3 leaves of illustrations; 29 cm. Red cloth with gilt spine title. This is no. 146 of a limited edition of 500 copies. Frederic R. Kirkland (1887-1961) was an investment broker, treasurer of the Pennsylvania Historical Society, and collector of American first editions and manuscripts relating to American and British history. His collection was sold by Parke-Bernet Galleries at auction in March 1962. This volume contains transcriptions of 92 letters in his collection relating to the American Revolution, with extensive explanatory notes. Includes index. In Near Fine- Condition: lacking frontispiece called for on p. 6, but of which there is no evidence that it was bound in; corners very lightly rubbed; otherwise, clean and tight.
