Luke Howard (1772-1864) a chemist and meteorologist; English Quaker, in later life turned Plymouth Brethren. Howard is critical of a posthumous publication written by Scott thirty years before his death, Salvation by Christ. He asserts that Scott would have revised this before publishing it later in life, and is critical of the doctrinal statements within it. He is gracious towards Scott and considers him to have been a true Christian and a worthy example, but critical of the theological views found in this particular publication.
