Item description from seller

Small 4to (9¾" x 7½"), pp. [2], viii, 145, [1]; contemporary and likely original quarter black calf over green cloth-covered boards; spine partially perished, newspaper shadow on pp. 84-5, but the binding is sound and the text clean. Three leaves of student manuscript notes laid in, possibly by F. Ernest Mackey whose ownership signature is on the front pastedown. This is likely Father Ernest Mackey (1884-1968), the Jesuit priest and missioner representing the Irish Jesuit Mission to Australia in China. First published in 1907 without the 45-page Chinese-English / English-Chinese vocabularies which have been added to this edition. OCLC locates just 5 copies, 4 in the U.S.: Berkeley, Claremont, Dartmouth, and University of Miami.
