Because of their endearing personalities, attractive coloration and reasonable price, many tortoise species – including leopard tortoises -- are popular pets among reptile enthusiasts. However, every tortoise requires its own specific care regimen to thrive.
Fortunately for those interested in keeping a leopard tortoise as a pet, these chelonians are rather easy to maintain if you satisfy their specific requirements. No matter which tortoise species you are inclined to add to your home, you’ll need to research the species’ needs to ensure you can provide the type of care you’ll need to provide.
Begin that journey inside, by learning about leopard tortoises, their place in the world and how to provide them with an artificial habitat that meets their needs.
The author, Ben Team, is an environmental educator and author with over 16 years of professional reptile-keeping experience.
Ben currently maintains www.FootstepsInTheForest.com, where he shares information, narration and observations of the natural world.
