The Legacy of Ash
For centuries, a war has been fought in the shadows of history, a conflict of divine heresies and ancient lies. Now, the fate of all creation rests on two brothers who don't even speak the same language.
Caleb Shaw, a brilliant historian, lives a life of quiet, ordered reason, comfortable in the belief that every mystery in the world can be solved with facts and careful research. His world is one of dusty archives and peer-reviewed papers. Miles away, his estranged younger brother, Wyatt, lives a life of chaotic, violent motion. A drifter and a survivor, he understands that the world is not a puzzle to be solved, but a brutal fight to be won, one day at a time. They are two men bound by nothing but a shared past they would both rather forget.
But a single night of unnatural fire and impossible violence changes everything. Their family home is burned to the ground, their parents are murdered, and the estranged brothers are reunited in a storm of grief. Amidst the ashes of their former lives, they discover the shocking truth: their father was not the simple history teacher they knew. He was a secret soldier, a Keeper of a forbidden, Gnostic faith, and a guardian of an artifact of terrifying power.
His legacy to his sons is not one of wealth or property, but of a terrible, sacred duty. His coded journal and the strange, dark disc he clutched in his hand at the moment of his death plunge them into the secret war he died to keep from them. They must now follow his trail, a desperate, globe-trotting hunt for the scattered fragments of the Veritas, an ancient key they believe has the power to challenge a flawed, tyrannical god and bring justice to a corrupt world.
Their quest will drag them from the haunted history of Salem to the primeval heart of a New England mountain guarded by an elemental power. It will take them to the ghostly, sunken wreck of a 200-year-old ship in the middle of a supernatural storm, and across the ocean to the forgotten industrial underworld of England and the holy sanctuaries of France.
But they are not the only players in this ancient game. They are being hunted. A brilliant and patient Prince of Hell, Malphas, seeks the fragments for his own dark purpose. The Ordo Veritas, a fanatical army of holy warriors wielding a strange, cold power, will stop at nothing to see the "heresy" and its bearers erased from existence. And in the chaos, other, stranger powers—zealous beings of fire and song—move with their own terrifying agendas, sometimes clearing the path, sometimes threatening to burn the brothers in their righteous fire.
To survive, Caleb and Wyatt must learn to trust each other for the first time in a decade, forging their fractured bond into a weapon. They believe they are fighting for their family, for a righteous cause passed down from their father.
They are wrong.
The Legacy of Ash is the explosive beginning to a new epic supernatural thriller series. It is a story of angels and demons, of heretics and saints, of two broken men who must confront the ghosts of their past to fight for a future they may be unwittingly destroying. It is a tale of family, heresy, and the terrible price of a truth that could unmake the world.
