About this Item

FIRST PARTINGTON EDITION. 8 vo. Modern cloth-backed boards, uncut. xlvii, (1), 463 pp. Engraved frontisportrait of Ferguson + 10 engraved plates + very numerous woodcuts in the text. Lower portion of frontis with dampstaining, spotty foxing to some of the plates; a good to very good copy. Like Brewster before him, C.F. Partington also included a fairly complete bibliography of Ferguson's published works. Several reprints of this edition appeared, the last in 1843. See: J.R. Millburn, 'Wheelwright of the heavens', 1988, p.286 for bibliographical entry. Bookseller Inventory # 000062
