Language: English. Approximately 168 pages. English: Print-on-demand reprint. Original edition : 1841. Text in English. This comprehensive work by William Paley (1743-1805) presents a systematic exploration of moral philosophy through a series of university lectures. Originally delivered to students at Cambridge, these lectures examine the foundations of moral reasoning, the nature of virtue, and the relationship between ethics and divine law. Paley's approach combines rigorous philosophical analysis with practical applications, making this text particularly valuable for scholars of 18th- and 19th-century moral thought. The work addresses key questions in normative ethics, including the basis of moral obligation, the role of conscience, and the relationship between individual morality and social order. As a foundational text in British moral philosophy, it remains relevant to contemporary debates in ethics, theology, and intellectual history. Book images are non-contractual.
