Pages can include considerable notes--in pen or highlighter--but notes cannot obscure the text. An acceptable condition pair of books bound into quarter leather boards. The leather sections show extreme loss and wear, with volume 1 having no spine cover and with volume 2 missing the majority of it's spine cover. Heavy rubbing and chipping to the board edges. The boards feel loose but are fairly secure for the moment. Annotations on the halftitle pages. The textblocks redeem this pair of books as they remain in good condition overall, and aside from some typical signs of age and handling they remain pleasantly bright and clean with a firm binding. The print is unfaded and the illustrations throughout are crisp. The fold-outs have been handled but remain fine, and the fold-out in colour remains impressively vibrant.
