From the Author
The book is divided into a series of common tasks, including writing a letter and printing an envelope, creating adverts, minutes of meetings and a CV, household budgets, using Excel as a database, web and email activities and personalising your computer. Each task can be attempted at one sitting and at the learner's own pace. The tasks are written in non-technical language with any new domain words explained in plain English. The emphasis is on providing enough information to complete the set task so that the learner is not overwhelmed. There are ample screen shots to make the tasks as straightforward as possible. There are hints and tips on, for example, shortcuts; solutions to common errors or misconceptions if things seem to be going not quite right. The emphasis is on confidence building through doing. There are quick reference guides and practice tasks for consolidation of skills. There is also a glossary of common terms and acronyms to enable 'talking the talk'.
The book uses Windows 98, Office 2000, Internet Explorer 5 and Outlook Express 5.
