This substantially revised Fourth Edition represents one of the most up-to-date, research-based methods texts available today.
This text has two specific goals: to change how teachers think about teaching and to change how they actually teach. Solidly grounded in research, the text describes practical methods in a clear, readable manner with numerous case examples and offers suggestions for applying those methods in today's diverse school environments. Kauchak and Eggen organize their discussion around three important themes in education: diversity, motivation, and technology.

From the Back Cover
Prepare for teaching in today’s classrooms with the sixth edition of Learning and Teaching: Research-Based Methods. Authors Don Kauchak and Paul Eggen organize their discussion around three important themes in education:
Standards and accountability. New sections related to standards and enhancements to the Preparing for Your Licensure Exam help prepare teachers for initial licensure, the realities of today’s classrooms, and new responsibilities for today’s teachers.
Diversity of today’s learners. An entire chapter on Differentiated Instruction and a recurring feature Exploring Diversity in the sixth edition help teachers support the needs of all learners and communicate effectively with diverse students and families.
Technology to support learning. The Technology and Teaching feature in each chapter offers guidance to apply technology to support communication, collaboration, planning and more.
