Finally, a Modern Way to Learn Real Sylheti.
Have you ever wished you could chat confidently with friends, family, and the vibrant Sylheti-speaking community around you? For too long, learners have been left without resources to learn the language as it’s truly spoken. This book changes everything.
What Makes This Book Different?
This is not another Bengali course. Learn Sylheti: A Complete Guide is built on the clear premise, supported by modern linguistics, that Sylheti is a language in its own right. We teach you the distinct core vocabulary (like fua for boy and furi for girl), the unique pronouns (afne, tain), and the characteristic grammar that makes Sylheti beautifully different from Standard Bengali.
The language you'll learn is authentic and contemporary, set in familiar scenarios like bargaining at a local market, ordering food at a restaurant, and making an appointment with a GP surgery. This approach makes your learning journey intuitive, practical, and immediately useful.
A Step-by-Step Path to Fluency
Your journey to speaking Sylheti starts now. We guide you gently through 20 logical chapters, beginning with the unique sounds of the language before moving on to building your first sentences. You’ll learn through realistic dialogues which are then broken down line-by-line so you understand every word. At the end of each chapter, carefully designed activities and answer keys help you practise and retain what you’ve learned, ensuring you make steady progress.
Who Is This For?
This guide is the perfect partner for:
