Leading Turf and Maintenance Teams for Golf Course GMs gives you the clarity, structure, and confidence to lead one of the most complex and misunderstood departments on the property. This book is not about turf science. It is about leadership, communication, and the systems that allow the maintenance team to deliver consistent conditioning day after day.
Most GMs inherit agronomy without training. They are expected to support the superintendent, manage budgets, communicate with members, and uphold course standards while navigating weather, labor challenges, and constant expectations. This playbook closes that gap. It explains the rhythms of the maintenance operation, the pressures of each season, and the leadership practices that create alignment between the GM and superintendent.
Inside, you will learn how to build a strong partnership with your superintendent, support daily operations without micromanaging, define standards that match your resources, and communicate with clarity during stress periods. You will understand how to manage equipment lifecycles, build predictable budgets, develop the maintenance team, and plan for long term course evolution. Every chapter is practical, readable, and designed for real‑world application.
Whether you are new to agronomy or looking to strengthen your leadership approach, this book gives you a clear framework for supporting the maintenance team and elevating the course. When the GM and superintendent operate as a unified leadership team, the entire operation becomes more resilient, more consistent, and more capable of delivering the experience your members expect.
Clear. Practical. Leadership focused. A modern guide for GMs who want to lead with confidence and steward the course with purpose.
