Bookplate of "Herbert Charles Moffitt" to front pastedown. Offsetting to endpapers. Light foxing to page edges and endleaves, otherwise internally clean. A very good copy. $35. * A significant historical work in the field of occupational medicine and public health it provides a detailed study of lead poisoning and its prevention. The book focuses on: Symptoms and pathology (the causes and effects) of lead poisoning; Prevention methods; The industrial origins of lead exposure; An account of the principal processes and industries involving risk of lead exposure. The former owner of this copy, Herbert Charles Moffitt [1867-1950], was a notable American clinician. His alma mater, University of California, named its Herbert C. Moffitt Hospital in his honor. In the upper left corner of the front pastedown, there is the bookseller's ticket of the Manhattan medical bookseller Paul B. Hoeber (1883-1937), who was also a prominent publisher of medical books.
